A fine violin by Daniel Cloutier, dated from 2020

Not only is Ancient Kauri a rare resource, mined from the earth like gold, it is even rarer to find Ancient Kauri with the proper density of the woods required to make a violin. The back plate, scroll, and ribs of this violin are 50,000+ year old Ancient Kauri, hand selected to have the same density of the maple it replaces. Meanwhile, the linings and blocks are made of Ancient Kauri with spruce densities.

The pegs and tailpiece are made from Royal Fenland “Bog” Oak carbon dated to 3,300BC in the style of Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume’s carved fittings found on Antonio Stradivari’s 1716 “Messiah” violin.
