This 16.25” viola features Ancient Kauri wood that has been sealed underground for at least 50,000 years, breaking the scale of carbon dating technology, for its a back plate, internal blocks, lining, neck, and scroll; a pre-historic mammoth ivory nut; and a saddle carved from Baltic Amber, dating back to millions of years. The viola is is modeled after Antonio Stradivari’s 1727 “Cassavetti” & 1719 “Macdonald” designs and is fitted with replica Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume “Alard” pegs and “Lady Blunt” tailpiece in 300 year old Mountain Mahogany.
