F-holes aren't just an embellishment to an instrument. Rather, their form functions as a key feature to the overall sound. By influencing the sound of an instrument and how the vibrations of the strings escape the sound chamber to reach the outside world, a properly designed f-hole will drastically improve the experience of any musician.
In this image, we show an f-hole modeled after the design of Antonio Stradivari’s “Messiah” violin, re-created here for a viola with a beautifully tight-grained spruce top.
